Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008 celebrated "30 Days to Go" for the Games
Pune, 12th September 2008: The spirit of the III Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 is in the air as Pune gets ready to host the Games from 12 to 18 October, 2008. As the city gears up for the Games, the countdown to the multi-sport event is coming close. Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP & Chairman, OC, CYG Pune 2008 & CWG Delhi 2010 and Mr. Vasant Purke, Minister for School Education and Sports, Govt. of Maharashtra, along with the Organizing Committee for CYG Pune 2008 and Jigrr, the Mascot for CYG Pune 2008, celebrated “30 Days to Go” for the Games with a spectacular cultural extravaganza at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rang Manch. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Dhanraj Pillai, Ex-Captain, Indian Hockey Team.

This was an evening studded with rhythm and dance, beauty and talent, sportsmanship and enthusiasm. A stunning laser show demonstrated the story of CYG Pune 2008. A fusion of performances by renowned percussionist Sivamani, musician Louis Banks and Sitar maestro Ravi Chari enthralled the audience and filled them with energy and enthusiasm that the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008 is worthy of. An electrifying dance performance by Ritika Handa’s dance troupe left the audience wanting more.

On the occasion, Mr. Suresh Kalmadi extended his gratitude to the people of Pune by addressing the audience. He said that the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008, in Pune, will be a great success with full credit to the people of Pune. With only 30 days left for the Games, he said that the excitement in the air is almost palpable. He cordially invited all Punekers to be a part of this ‘larger than life’ event with the Opening Ceremony on the 12th of October, 2008.

Femina Miss India World 2008, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Femina Miss India Earth 2008 Tanvi Vyas and Femina Miss India Top 10 Malvika joined Mr. Kalmadi in extending their pride and excitement towards Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008. A Mobile van which is going around town selling official CYG Pune 2008 merchandise was showcased for the public during the event.

With the Games coming closer, celebrating “30 Days to Go” for CYG Pune 2008 was aimed at pumping up enthusiasm amongst Puneites and motivate them to be a part of the Games. With the official Games merchandise of CYG Pune 2008 on sale, people can now own a part of the Commonwealth Youth Games 2008.
