The Commonwealth Games Federation’s Coordination Commission (Co Comm) visit to Pune.
The Commonwealth Games Federation’s Coordination Commission (Co Comm) arrived in Pune on 16th January 2008 for a meeting with the CYG Organizing Committee to discuss and assess developments on the Commonwealth Youth Games Pune 2008.

The Co Comm. is a committee of experts nominated by CGF to facilitate, oversee & monitor technical, administrative & legal aspects related with the preparation and conduct of the Games.

The panel included Mr. Bruce Robertson, Acting Coordination Commission Chairman and CGF Vice President, Mr. Mike Hooper, CEO, CGF, Mr. Sharad Rao, Hon. Legal Advisor, CGF, Mr. Craig McLatchy, CEO, Events Knowledge Services (EKS).

Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP & Chairman Organising Committee CWG Delhi 2010 and CYG Pune 2008 and the office bearers of CYG coordinated the visit.

The organizing committee gave presentations on various functional areas and the Games conduct and presentation.

This was followed by a visit to the Games venue - Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on 17th January 2008 to evaluate the progress in sports infrastructure and the Athletes’ Village. Presentations were made on sports infrastructure, city infrastructure and security.

Mr. Bruce Robertson found the level of organization and commitment under Chairman Suresh Kalmadi for these Games commendable. He said, “the vision for the Youth Games has been considerably expanded and the plans for the event will certainly raise the profile and status of the Youth Games. The organizing committee and local governments in Pune have well developed and co-operative plans as well as a determination to deliver an outstanding event.”
