Visit Dr. M. Jegathesan Hon. Medical Advisor CGF to Pune
Dr. M. Jegathesan Chairman Medical and Doping Control Commission CGF visited Pune from 29 to 30 January 2008 to review the preparations for medical cover and anti doping program plan for the CYG Pune 2008. He was accompanied by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Chairman of Medical & Doping Control Committee CYG Pune and Dr. Munish Chandar, Director Doping Control CYG Pune.

Shri Suresh Kalmadi, MP, Chairman Organising Committee CYG Pune, welcomed the delegates.

Dr. Y. H. Doiphode, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) CYG Pune along with the Medical Committee gave a presentation on medical cover which included the following aspects:

  1. Objectives
  2. Client group
  3. Requirement of staff, equipment, ambulances and medicines.
  4. Location of Medical Aid posts.
  5. Village Polyclinic
  6. Super specialty hospital
Dr. Jegathesan was satisfied with the grasp of concept of Operation by the Medical Committee. He explained the provision of essential Medical Services as per the Host City obligations during Games period from 8th Oct to 20th Oct 2008. He emphasized on the following aspects:

  1. Allotment of space for medical room of contingent depending on their strength.
  2. Facilitate bringing of medicines by CGA’s through custom at Mumbai Airport.
  3. Provision of isolation ward.
  4. Required arrangement for the CGF Medical Commission.
  5. Preparation of medical Hand book.
  6. Compilation of data after the Games (sick report pattern and utilisation of services).
Copies of CGF guidelines for Medical Services and Anti Doping program were given by the Hon. Advisor to Medical Committee.

Dr. Jegathesan and other members visited the Sports Complex at Balewadi. A presentation on Doping Control program was given. Members of Doping Control Committee CYG Pune were present. Dr. Jegathesan was quite pleased with the comprehensive presentation. He stressed on the education program for the athletes and availability of respiratory lab during the Games.
